DiamondOps for iOS 1.3 went out on October 19. It’s a small update, on purpose. There are no new market screens this time. It’s about how the app treats you: what it asks before ads use your data, what it says when it can’t check your plan, and how it tells you what an update changed. 1.2 brought Rankings and Radar’s track record, and the full list for every version lives on the iOS changelog.
Your privacy, your choice
The free tier is ad-supported, and that isn’t changing. What changes is that you get a say in how those ads use your data.
- Where the law requires it, the app asks how ads may use your data before any ad loads. Not after, and not buried in a settings page.
- Accounts that show ads get Apple’s tracking question once. Ads keep working whichever you choose, so saying no doesn’t break anything.
- Where your region allows changes, Profile › Privacy options reopens your choices. A decision you made on day one doesn’t have to be permanent.
The privacy policy spells out exactly what is and isn’t collected.
Clearer membership
If the app couldn’t reach the membership check, your Profile used to fall back to showing Free, even if you weren’t. That’s a bad thing to see when you pay for Pro. Now, if the app can’t check your plan, Profile says exactly that instead of guessing.
It’s the same rule Diamond Radar follows. When the app doesn’t know, it says it doesn’t know, rather than printing something that looks right and isn’t.
What’s New, in the app
After each update, a What’s New screen shows what changed. If you dismiss it or want to look back, every past version is in Profile › What’s New. You shouldn’t need to find a blog post to learn what an update did, though you’re welcome here anytime.
Meanwhile, on the web
The web app at diamondops.gg ships on its own schedule. Recent highlights:
- Diamond Radar’s track record goes score band by score band, each set against how often any card gets upgraded by chance, and it now refreshes within about a minute.
- Each roster update notes the model version that made the calls.
- Value Gap is held back, with the reason shown, when the sample is too small to stand behind.
- The First-Pitch Hitter quirk now counts toward OpScore and the Quirk Stack.
- A Radar videos page with chapters and transcripts, a Show News filter in News, and a new About the Developer page.
The detailed list is on the web changelog.
Next season
DiamondOps is getting ready for MLB The Show 27: a new season of data, sharper tools, and more ways to play. I’ll say more when there’s something real to show.
